The Student Achievement Awards are RGU:Union's annual celebration of the outstanding work and commitment of student volunteers, societies and groups. RGU:Union provides a huge number of opportunities for students to get involved, and each year thousands of students join these groups and volunteer tens of thousands of hours to supporting students, running events and improving the student experience. There are a wide range of awards that are open to students and societies.

Society of the Year

The Society of the Year Award goes to a student group which has shown incredible growth and impact on the student community and exceeded the normal expectations for societies. These groups have shown initiative, gained acclaim and inspired others.

Academic Society of the Year

The Academic Society of the Year Award goes to a group which has provided significant benefit to the academic learning of other students. The society has been exceptional in developing new ideas, supporting students, gaining recognition and excelling in the year.

Non-academic Society of the Year

The Non-Academic Society of the Year Award goes to a society that has excelled at providing a fun yet engaging student experience for it’s members and those who have participated in it’s events or programmes.  The society has been exceptional in developing engaging events, providing a worthwhile experience for it’s members and gained recognition in the wider RGU community.

Most Improved Society

The Most Improved Society Award is given to a group which has shown remarkable development in increasing engagement, launching new initiatives, and overcoming challenges to show an inspiration improvement in the activities of the group.

Volunteering Project of the Year

The Volunteering Project of the Year Award is given to a project that brings together an exceptional amount of committed RGU students volunteering, that has allowed for excellent skills development and resulted in a remarkable impact on the community.

Full Scarlet Award

The Full Scarlet Award is given to our most outstanding and highest achieving students involved in extra-curricular activities. This award is for exceptional students who have shown incredible commitment, initiative, and leadership and been an inspiration to others.

Half Scarlet Award with Continued Excellence 

The Half Scarlet Award with Continued Excellence Award is given to exceptional students who have shown a significant level of engagement and contribution to extra-curricular activities as well as initiative and leadership in developing their student group.

Half Scarlet Award

The Half Scarlet Award is given to highly committed society members and volunteers who are a core and respected participant in their student group and been valuable in the running of the group and in the development of new ideas and projects.

Recognition

The Recognition Award is given to celebrate the highly valuable contribution of students in extra-curricular activities. These students have played a key role in running groups and projects and shown a great level of commitment beyond expectations.

Certificate

The Certificate is given to thank students who have given their time and effort to extra-curricular activities and participated and supported the activities of the group.

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year Award is given to our most outstanding volunteer who has shown a remarkable contribution to student projects and shown real initiative and leadership and has had a significant positive impact on others from their work.

Society Person of the Year

The Society Person of the Year Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to establishing, running or developing student societies. They are well respected leaders and their work has had a notable benefit on the society.

ResLife Assistant Award

The Reslife Assistant of the Year Award is given to a ResLife Assistant who has shown exceptional commitment to the role, gone above and beyond in welfare, events, or innovation and has had a significant positive impact on fellow team members and residents.

Student Engagement Award

The Student Engagement Award is given to an individual or group that has achieved an outstanding level of interest and involvement from a diverse group of students and been able to create lasting engagement and impact.
