First day back at uni and already dreaming of adventure? These are Radar's top 5 travel destinations to help you figure it out.
Travelling gives you thrills and enables you to visit, very often, a different culture, observe how residents behave and interact with one another, and taste their local food. The feeling you get when you stand in the place you’ve seen so many photographs of and you can finally experience it yourself is priceless.
This list of places to visit in 2018 is for everyone. Ranging from cheap and close destinations to more expensive and remote, these are the places worth visiting this year.
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
The city of students, artists and delicious food, has always been attracting a great number of tourists. In the massive and crowded city, renting a bike and cycling around the city make the travelling easier and cheaper. Because the city itself is quite expensive, reducing the number of days spent in Copenhagen is recommended. And don’t worry, it is very manageable to sightsee the city in two or three days. The most popular spots in the capital of Denmark are the Little Mermaid, Tivoli Gardens, the canal and entertainment districts Nyhavn and Christiania.
TALLIN, ESTONIA
Being on a budget does not exclude traveling. The capital of Estonia, Tallin, is very affordable for those who are trying to save up some money but sightsee as well. Constantly keeping an eye on travel websites and flights may be very helpful with finding great deals. The city offers a breath-taking coastline, incredible views of panorama of Tallin from the roof of Linnahall and various cathedrals and museums, such as St. Mary’s Cathedral and Estonian Maritime Museum.
ICELAND
It is not just the capital of the island that grabs people’s attention, but the entire island, the animals, nature and its wilderness and pureness. Iceland is well known for Northern Lights which occur during winter when the nights are the longest, and its best visible in dark and unlit places. Blue Lagoon is a very popular geothermal spa destination with outdoor lagoon and mineral-rich waters. Jökulsárlón is a glacier lagoon sharing a border with?Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Black Sand Beach, Reynisfajra, is one of the most unique beaches in the world. And the list of places worth visiting carries on, it is endless!
HUNAN, CHINA
Hunan is located in South Central China and it is the 7th most populous province of the country. Tianmen Mountain and its cliff walkway are the most iconic spots in the province and a touristic destination. Aizhai Bridge, located near Jishou in Hunan province, is a suspension bridge on the Expressway between Baotou and Maoming, and it is a good place to practise base jumping while admiring the views. Also, there are a few parks and museums dedicated to Mao Zedong, the Communist leader of the 20th Century.
KAUAI, HAWAII
First of all, it is not the cheapest place to fly to and visit. In fact, there are not many flight connections between countries or continents, at least not yet. The predictions are that either from 2018 or 2019, Southwest Airlines will be flying there from California. The place is very exotic and it just had to appear on this list! From Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach and Spouting Horn, to Hanakapiai Falls, to museums and farms; on this small island everything is located at one’s fingertips. And its greatest park, Na Pali Coast State Park, known for its towering pali or sea cliffs and narrow valleys is situated in the centre of the island and is a must see.
