The RGU Uni Boob Team has made a reappearance this semester in order to spread the word of copping a feel every month.

Breast Cancer awareness charity, CoppaFeel began the Uni Boob initiative with the thought that knowledge is power. As today, 51% of students within the UK have heard of the CoppaFeel charity, compared to only 39% of the general public, proving that students have both the power and voice to make a change.

The initiative was created in order to challenge the misconceptions around breast cancer to ensure that every young man and woman can be readily equipped to detect the disease early and at any age.

You will probably find the Uni Boob team shouting about the importance of boob-checking and aiming to raise funds for CoppaFeel around campus.

The team consists of multiple students from RGU, all at different levels of study and from a variety of courses. They are all unified thanks to their one goal – to spread the boob love!

President of the RGU Uni Boob Team (UBT), Gaby Beaton, said: “We are always welcoming new members so if it sounds like something you would like to get involved in then please get in touch. We welcome all levels of commitment as we understand everyone can be busy with Uni life”.

As a current second year events management student, Gaby added that she “personally wanted to get involved in the hope that informing even one person about checking themselves would potentially save a life”.

She also gave Radar some information on how to benefit from the team’s services: “You can receive your own monthly text reminder by texting UBT RGU to 70 500 or if you feel that you would benefit from a chat with the RGU UBT team then we would love to hear from you.”

The funds raised through the initiative go towards the monthly text reminders, where £20 is enough money to send 500 text reminders.

The UBT will also be hosting a number of events where you can get involved or simply go along for a chat to find out more about the initiative and how to feel your boobs (or your partners) for any lumps or bumps. Keep your eyes peeled on their Facebook page for further information.

You can find out more information about the CoppaFeel charity yourself by visiting coppafeel.org. If you would like to get involved with the RGU Uni Boob Team, it is as simple as sending an email to ubtrgu@gmail.com or messaging the team on Facebook/Instagram @ubtrgu.
