Goals
Now that we’re well into March, is it safe to say that most new years resolutions are long gone, faded away? Can you even remember what yours was? I can’t. The want to be successful is a natural human trait, but without a plan – there’s little to no hope. More emphasis needs to be put on the journey, not just the outcome. Otherwise each goal becomes an ‘I’ll go tomorrow’ or ‘I’ll start on Monday’.
You need a strategy to execute your goals. First, what you need is a growth mindset. This means you need to believe you can do better, there may be an obstacle to that goal but literally, you can do anything. Dreams and goals seem large at first, but what you need to do is break down goals into smaller bite-size objectives, daily tasks that can help you towards your goal. Every small step is an achievement! Don’t think of the massive outcome, but about the accomplishments along the way – what seems like a small step is one leap towards your goal!
Hold yourself accountable to these targets – write them down. These goals don’t even have to be for the year, write down a list of your to do’s, to go’s and dreams and think about how you can genuinely get there. Remember, every small step is one step closer to achieving what you want to do.
Remember to go for it. What’s stopping you? Embarrassment? Laziness? Get focused and do what makes you proud! Be confident and tell yourself that no one cares what you’re doing except you.
Better yourself
Another list – but trust me they are helpful to put things into perspective. Sketch out your expertise and see where the possibilities could take you. If there's something that’s bothering you, such as a bad trait you have or a problematic friend or work issue – write it down. Think of ways to make it positive, life is too short.
An obvious point – check your health. Keep in the loop of dentist, GP and optician check-ups to make sure you’re alive and well for 2019.
Do more of what makes you happy. Set aside more time for doing what you love, what’s the point of being the best you if you are unhappy? Whether it be your beloved hobby or a bit of retail therapy – treat yo’ self! Also, learn to say no. Sometimes it’s ok to be selfish.
Build your bank. Try and set aside a little percentage of your money each month – it will surprise you how fast it can build up. This way you’ll have a holiday fund, some rainy-day money or some emergency cash in your reach.
