Garthdee Towers are located directly on the campus only a five minute walk from the main teaching buildings. There are forty-nine rooms avaliable all for RGU students with a shower and a sink in each room. There are shared toilets in the flats and a communal social area on the top floor. The Round Tower is seven floors high with six 5-bedroom flats with a lift, and the Square Tower is five floors high with 4 and 5 bedroom flats with no lift.
- Garthdee Towers are located in a quiet location on campus with stunning views from the top floor communal lounges.
- With only 49 rooms available, these rooms are heavily in demand and unfortunately we are unable to offer them to everyone that requests them.
- The campus is located in a quiet residential area and there are no facilities out of hours so if you want easy access to social activities this may not be the best site for you.
- The quirky design of the Round Tower means the rooms have built in beds to accommodate the round walls – not ideal for taller people!
Getting To and From Garthdee Towers
Approx. 5 min Walk to Campus
The Garthdee Towers are perfect for getting to classes, as they are directly on the campus and only a five minute walk away from all of the main teaching buildings. Close to the campus, it is a ten minute walk from shops such as ASDA and Sainsbury's. If you are looking to get to the City Centre it is about a hour walk away.
Approx. 15 min Bus Journey to City Centre
There is no need to get a bus to campus from Garthdee Towers as it is on campus, however, it is only a three minute walk to Garthdee Road, where students can get on the First Aberdeen Route 1, 1A and 2 to get to the city centre in just 15 minutes. The buses come at least every ten minutes.
Approx. 30 min Cycle to City Centre
Another way to get around town from Garthdee Towers is to cycle. There is external bike racks across the campus and the RGU Students' Union run an RGU Go Green sustainability project where they have a
Bike Hire Scheme where students can get a free bike and reserve it for a semester. Students cycling into town from Garthdee can take a number of routes, including an old railway line which runs from Garthdee to Duthie Park allowing cyclists a safer route to avoid the traffic.
Approx. 15 min Drive to City Centre
If you are looking to drive in Aberdeen, Garthdee Towers has parking space on campus, but students would have to apply for a university permit fr around £175 per year. It is only a 15 minute drive either to campus into the City Centre.
