RGU Wins Universities' Boat For the Fifth Year In A Row

Robert Gordon University has remained undefeated at this year's Aberdeen Asset Management Universities' Boat Race. The annual boat race took place on Saturday 12th March, and sees boat teams from Robert Gordon University and University of Aberdeen compete in a head to head boat race along the River Dee. This years race was the closest ever race, with the teams neck and neck throughout the race, with RGU eventually crossing the finish line with a time of 7 minutes 38.6 seconds, just a quarter of a length ahead. The University of Aberdeen team crossed the line with a time of 7 minutes and 40.1 seconds. Both crews had record breaking times, beating a time of 7 minutes 42.2 seconds from RGU in 2014. The event also saw the second crews compete, with the University of Aberdeen crew winning with a time of 7 minutes 48.1 seconds, and alumni crews compete with Robert Gordon University winning by a huge one and a quarter lengths.

Erin Wyness, President of Robert Gordon University Boat Club, says, “For this to be RGU’s fifth win in a row feels awesome, as we were all so determined to retain the title. I’m so proud of the crew. Also, a big thanks to Ian and the University of Aberdeen crew, who always put up a great challenge.”
