As a society we are about helping students with their Academic studies in ceramics, as well as making ceramics more accessible to the wider RGU. This Society is for anyone with an interest in ceramics, we will be holding some classes in methods such as throwing and handbuilding. The classes will be for simple making methods so that everyone will get to put work in the kiln. Our £25 membership is for the cost of gas and other consumables needed to run a firing and the materials members will get to make work with e.g. clay and glaze.
This society is a chance to try out more atmospheric firings, that would not have been originally offered by the University. We are planning to carry out Raku, wood firings and pit firings. Anyone is welcome to join the ceramics society.
If you have any questions please email us, please be aware that the committee are very busy with academic studies and setting up the society so it might take a while for your email to be answered but we will do our best to reply.
