Partnership Awards

 

The RGU Partnership Awards recognise students for their contributions to enhancing the student experience at Robert Gordon University.

Nominations are open to all students to nominate peers or themselves. Staff are encouraged to promote self-nominations and to support students in their applications if requested. Please submit your application and associated documentation by 11:59pm on Sunday 3rd February 2024.

 

CRITERIA FOR AWARDS

The Awards recognise student contributions across a range of areas. As such, all categories ask the applications contain evidence of:

  • regular and consistent engagement within their course/school, and/or the wider university
  • a contribution to improving or changing their course and/or issues relating to the school or wider university
  • An example of project working impact or general work that focuses on improving the student experience at course/school, and/or the wider university

 

The Student Partnership Award honours outstanding commitment to, and achievement on behalf of the student learning experience, through partnership with the University. This Award recognises students who have actively sought to work in collaboration with their peers, and staff to delivery positive outcomes for their course, school, or wider university.

  • Nominees must have evidence of working as part of a collaborative team (minimum 2 people) of which one must be a staff member
  • Effective engagement with staff and students, and evidence of working in partnership to develop solutions and enhancements
  • Contributions to the enhancement of the student learning experience and the university’s quality enhancement processes at any level
  • Contributions deemed as outstanding may be Awarded ‘with distinction’  at the discretion of the Panel

 

Student Representative of the Year Award recognises the contributions of Student Representatives in engaging with their peers, fellow Student Representatives, Student School Officers and staff at their School to facilitate positive change within their Course, School, or wider university. This Award is granted to those who go beyond the remit of their role descriptor to deliver meaningful impact.

  • Nominees must hold a current Student Representative role to apply for this award
  • This Award is limited to two outstanding candidates for the year, one for a Representative on an undergraduate course and one for a Representative on a postgraduate course.
  • Wffective engagement with staff and students, and evidence of working in partnership to develop solutions and enhancements within the School, or wider university
  • Contributions to the enhancement of the student learning experience within the School, or wider university

 

Student School Officer of the year Award recognises the contributions of Student School Officers in bridging the gap between the students and the staff at their School to facilitate positive change within the School, or wider university. This Award is granted to those who go beyond the remit of their role descriptor to deliver meaningful impact.

  • Nominees must hold a current Student School Officer role to apply for this award
  • This Award is limited to one outstanding candidate for the year
  • Effective engagement with staff and students, and evidence of working in partnership to develop solutions and enhancements within the School, or wider university
  • Contributions to the enhancement of the student learning experience within the School, or wider university

 

All applications are reviewed by a Panel consisting of internal staff and RGU:Union representatives.

The Panel will:

  • Consider submissions completed by the stipulated date for return
  • Base their recommendation on the information contained within the submissions
  • By request contact relevant staff/students for additional information
  • Consider the depth, and impact of the overall application not necessarily the number of hours of engagement
  • Consider the extent to which a constructive partnership with staff has been achieved
  • Agree the number of awards granted per session following consideration of all submission

The Panel may:

  • Include ‘with distinction’ to any Award category
  • By exception, consider, or be entitled to nominate, additional individuals for recognition
  • In some circumstances, considered a nomination for a different category of Award than the one selected during submission
