Muhammad Adnan
President
I have served as a Class Rep and represented RGU as a STEP Student Network member. I've actively engaged in union activities, including the RGU Hackathon, working with the RGU ResLife team during winter break, and modeling for Woolmanhill Accommodation. These experiences have honed my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, equipping me to effectively advocate for our student community as President.
Empowering Students Through Financial Assistance I will implement and expand comprehensive financial support programs for both international and local students. By creating new scholarships, grants, and emergency funds, we will ensure that financial challenges do not hinder academic dreams. This commitment means equal opportunities for every student, regardless of background or circumstance, enabling them to focus fully on their studies without the burden of financial stress.
Enhancing Exam Systems and Support Structures Our education system must reflect fairness, transparency, and efficiency, especially when it comes to examinations. I pledge to address exam-related issues by modernizing assessment methods, improving exam administration, and providing additional academic support during critical periods. This includes initiatives like remedial classes, exam preparation workshops, and a robust appeals process to ensure that every student's efforts are evaluated.
Prioritizing Student Wellbeing Academic success is deeply intertwined with mental, emotional, and physical health. I will champion comprehensive wellbeing programs that include mental health services, counseling, stress management workshops, and peer support networks. By integrating these services into our educational framework, we will cultivate a nurturing environment where students are empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
The biggest issue facing RGU students is the overwhelming financial and mental health pressures compounded by academic stress. Many students are struggling to balance their studies, personal lives, and rising costs. I will work collaboratively with the Student Presidents and Vice Presidents to pool resources, share best practices, and create unified initiatives, such as enhancing financial aid programs and comprehensive mental health support to ensure our community is both supported and heard.
