ADAM JAMES JOHNSTON

Hello all!

I’m ADAM JAMES JOHNSTON (the guy with the nice hair) and I want to be your new President of Education and Welfare!

Who am I? I’m 22 years old, a Media student in my final year, an aspiring actor and filmmaker, but most important of all, I’m someone who cares very much about students of all kinds!

What are my Policies?

  • Mental-Health Training for all lecturers and society presidents, as well as drastically improving existing services on campus

  • Combat Gender-Based Violence towards students. Launch ‘SOLUTION’ – My Uni-Wide initiative comprising of several projects to prevent and report instances, and to support those affected. (Training, Reporting Systems, Halls Safety and more!)

  • Fix the Placement Programme, it isn’t working for everyone! I’ll introduce/strengthen alternative options, fight for student funding, and improve it across ALL schools

  • CCB News, roll out the new student-ran content station where those from ALL schools can build portfolios, undergo placements, learn new skills and more!

  • Choose your Modules early on in your degree, to tailor your skill-set, avoid unrequired modules, and forge your own path

Sound Good?
So why am I the best choice? Well...

  • I’m overseeing the Mental Wellbeing Society

  • I run both the RGU Drama Society and RGU: TV

  • I directed an award-winning video campaign with Police Scotland

  • I’m working with Rape Crisis Grampian and Abused Men in

Scotland to produce a nationwide video series on ‘Ask-For-Angela’

  • I’ve done over 500 hours of volunteering here at RGU

  • All this and more! So believe me, I’m not messing around!

Please vote for Adam James Johnston at your next Student Union Election: VOTE to end exploitative and messy work placements; VOTE to end gender-based violence; VOTE to fight the serious and prevalent issue of mental health; and VOTE for a stronger, more effective Union.

Peace Out.
